Twenty years after it had its world premiere at The Ellen, the acclaimed 1992 film A River Runs Through It returns to the big screen with a special presentation on Saturday, October 20th. Hailed by fans and critics, director Robert Redford captures the beauty of Montana and the world of fly fishing in this true-to-life family drama about a Presbyterian minister and his two sons, one reserved and one rebellious. Based on a Norman Maclean story with a screenplay adapted by Richard Friedenberg, the stellar cast includes Tom Skerritt, Brenda Blethyn, Craig Sheffer and Brad Pitt.

As a bonus, the evening begins with a screening of Shadow Casting: The Making of A River Runs Through It. This one hour documentary is filled with behind-the-scenes footage as well as interviews with the actors and creative team responsible for the movie. The documentary will be introduced by its Co-Producer and Co-Director, Dennis Aig. Prior to the feature presentation Patrick Markey, Producer of A River Runs Through It, will also be speaking.

Made possible by a gift of a state-of-the-art digital projector and screen from the Taylor Family Foundation, The Ellen has had great success with a series of movie nights and celebrating the 20th anniversary of this Oscar-winning classic filmed in and around Bozeman brings A River Runs Through It full circle. Sponsored by local fly fishing resort Gallatin River Lodge, Shadow Casting will screen at 6:30 PM with the feature presentation to start at approximately 7:45 PM.
