Auditions

The Ellen Theatre announces auditions for the upcoming holiday production of
Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Local favorite John Hosking will portray
the lead role of Ebenezer Scrooge, and the play will be directed by Mary Jo Ludin.
This much-loved classic opens Friday, December 5th and runs for twelve
performances through Sunday, December 21st.
 

Audition Information

Age Range
Children’s roles are open to ages 7 – 15. We are looking for children who are
focused and comfortable working with adult actors. Also, children cast in the
production receive complimentary tickets to the show.

Adult featured and ensemble roles are open to anyone ages 18 and up. (Note:
there is a modest stipend for all adults cast in the production.)

Audition Dates and Times
Saturday, September 13th:
10:00 AM to Noon (Children ages 7 to 15)
1:00 PM to 4:00 PM (18 and up)

Sunday, September 14th:
Noon to 2:00 PM (Children ages 7 to 15)
2:00 PM to 4:00 PM (ages 18 and up)

Monday, September 15th:
4:00 PM to 5:30 PM (Children ages 7 to 15)
6:00 PM to 8:30 PM (ages 18 and up)

To make certain that the audition process runs smoothly, those wishing to
audition should register in advance. Upon registering you will be able to select a
time slot. If you are unable to register in advance, please note that walk-ins will be
seen. If these audition dates and times do not work for your schedule, please
contact us and we will arrange an alternate time.

Audition Instructions

Adults (ages 18 and up)
We will have sides available for you to read at your audition, so you need not
prepare anything. If you prefer to choose your own material you may bring a short
monologue, story, or poem to use for your audition. The piece may be serious or
comedic.
 

Children (ages 7 - 15)
For your audition we would love to see you perform a short monologue. You are
free to choose whatever you like, or you may select one HERE.

CHILDREN, PLEASE NOTE: You do not have to have anything memorized!

Rehearsals

Rehearsals begin the week of October 13th and are normally held Monday
through Thursday evenings and Saturdays during the day. Evening rehearsals will
begin at 6:30 PM and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Not all actors will be
called to every rehearsal for the first few weeks.

To the parents of young actors (ages 15 and younger) - Children will rehearse
weeknights from 6:30 to 8:30 PM two or three times a week for the first few
weeks, and on Saturdays. They will not be called to every rehearsal until we begin
running the full show. Once we are close to performances and adding technical
aspects the children are expected to remain until the end of rehearsal (around
10:00 PM).
