Musical Theatre Audition Workshops
The Ellen Theatre is holding TWO FREE WORKSHOPS focusing on what to expect and how to best prepare for a musical theatre audition. Concentrating on singing and dancing, these workshops are a lead-in to the upcoming auditions for The Ellen Theatre’s December production of the holiday musical – Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.
Wednesday, August 26 – 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
The Dance Audition Workshop (ages 16 and up)
Time to learn a fun and basic tap routine! Also, discover what is generally taught at a tap audition, what’s best to wear, how to properly present your dancing skills - and be ready to dance. Tap shoes preferred; hard-soled shoes okay.
Instructor: Roger Castellano
Roger Castellano works extensively as a producer/director/choreographer creating theatrical shows and special events. Theatrical awards include: LA Ovation Award Nominee; LA Times Critic’s Pick; Inland Theatre League Award; AriZoni Award; and Drama Logue’s Critic Award. From stage shows, cruise ships, and parades, recent credits with Montana Theatre Works are Annie and The Music Man. Roger’s teaching experience in acting, musical theatre, and dance include the institutions of UC Irvine, The Young Americans College of Performing Arts, and Fullerton College, and is a graduate from California State University at Fullerton.

The Vocal Audition Workshop (ages 16 and up)

Learn how to prepare for a musical theatre audition! This workshop will explore what to expect at an audition, how to choose the right song, tips for presenting your audition material with confidence, and how to make a strong impression. Some participants may have the opportunity to perform a prepared song and receive feedback. If possible, please bring a prepared song and sheet music in the correct key for the accompanist.
Instructor: Annabella Joy
Annabella Joy is a Bozeman-based theatre maker, teaching artist, and musician. She was named Bozeman’s Choice #1 Music Educator 2026 and has appeared in numerous Montana TheatreWorks productions, including The Glass Menagerie, Oklahoma!, Company, You Can’t Take It With You, and A Christmas Carol. A graduate of The Boston Conservatory, Annabella lives in Bozeman, where she performs professionally and teaches voice to her 35+ students. AnnabellaJoy.com
